Meet the Team
Outwest Canine Consulting was formed in 2000 by Bill Allen and included being part of SARDAA (Search & Rescue Dog Association of Alberta) with Bailie until their move back to Saskatchewan in 2001. During the first few years back in Saskatchewan, Bill realized the need for dogs specialized in Pipeline Leak Detection, so with his number one Chocolate Lab named Bailie, they completed the training to add Pipeline Leak Detection to the Outwest Canine Consulting portfolio.
Bill grew his crew from Bailie, to Kaaxan, to Rider, then Rider’s pup Ruff, and most recently a pup from Rider’s last litter, Raja. |
Bill’s current crew of Pipeline Leak Detection dogs are Kaaxan (Mayan for to search/find), Ruff (as in Ruff Rider - in honor of his sire and the Football team), and Raja (Shining Star) who is in training. These 3 dogs create the full spectrum of Labs as they are Chocolate, Black & Yellow.
Outwest Canine Consulting also provides Dog Training Services and helps people to work one on one with their own dogs on various training, behavioral and socialization factors of dog ownership. Bill has found that one on one training with the owner of the dog and in the dog’s own environment creates a highly successful and beneficial bond between the pet and their human pack. Bill has helped people choose the right breed of dog for their family & lifestyle. He has helped them to successfully integrate a puppy into its new home and pack. Bill has helped people who have rescued dogs to adjust them into their lives and to give the dogs new pack leader(s) guidance.

Community Involvement
Bill is actively involved in the community and provides Dog Awareness Presentations for schools, summer fun programs, SaskPower, and SaskEnergy. These consist of Search & Rescue demonstrations, how to approach dogs that are unknown to you, how to read a dog’s signs, and what to do if a dog shows fear or aggression.
